St. Andrew’s Priory is a new Benedictine foundation for men located in southern Maine. Being a new monastic foundation there is a sense of excitement and newness, but with this comes challenges to be over come. The work of Benedictine life is ancient, built on the lives of many monks and nuns past.
For all monastics the search for God is paramount. Work, study, and prayer (Lectio Divina) are the corner stones of the monastic life as written in the sixth century by St. Benedict of Nursia. The roots of Christian monasticism are grounded in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The goal of the monks at St. Andrew’s Priory is to center their lives on the teachings of Jesus. Christ said, “My brothers and sisters are those who hear the Word of God and put it into practice.” Benedictines make every effort to reflect the Kingdom of God to all.
